How Each Zodiac Sign Makes Friends

One of the hardest things to do as an adult is learn how to make new friends. When you’re in school, you meet people in your classes, your dorm, or any outside activities. But when you’re out of school, you don’t have the same amount of opportunities to meet people.

Since astrology tends to influence our behavior and personality, it’s not surprising that it also affects how we meet people and develop friendships with them. And every zodiac sign has their own unique way of making new friends, horoscope or no horoscope.

Sometimes you have to approach making a new friend in the same way you would to accomplish most anything: you set a goal and you think of strategies to achieve it. You might take a class in a subject you’re interested in or join a hiking meet-up so you get in a workout while meeting people.

Often times, you just have to be open to meeting new people and be able to let your guard down so it’s easy for people to get to know you. If you can, make the first move and invite someone out on a friend-date. If they refuse, try not to take it personally; you don’t know what’s going on in their life or their background.

Most of the time your fear is only in your head, and once you get past it, you’ll be free to meet new people and develop friendships. Making new friends as an adult may be more challenging than when you were a kid, but the resulting friendships can often be even more beneficial and satisfying.

ARIES (March 21 – April 19)

All Aries has to do to make new friends is just to be themselves. They constantly meet people because they’re always doing something fun, whether it’s playing sports or being active in the community theater scene.

They need to keep busy and they’re naturally charming, so making friends comes pretty easily to them. Since Aries are somewhat impulsive, it’s not unlike them to give a stranger a free ticket to something when they have an extra one.

TAURUS (April 20 – May 20)

Taurus individuals have a vibe about them that says they will be there for you no matter what. People gravitate to Taurus because they very attractive, vibrant people, but people who don’t have to make it all about them all the time.

They tend to meet new people when they’re traveling — maybe because they feel free to be whoever they want to be, or because when traveling there’s always something to talk about.

GEMINI (May 21 – June 20)

Geminis know the best way to meet new people is to get out there, and they have no problem mingling at parties, socializing at group events, or going to clubs. They like people and people tend to like them.

One thing about Geminis is that there’s no shortage of conversation as Gemini not only always has something to say but they’re genuinely interested in other people’s thoughts, opinions, and ideas. There’s something so energetic and fun about Geminis that everyone wants to be friends with them.

CANCER (June 21 – July 22)

There’s something very appealing about someone who is real and doesn’t try to be someone they’re not. Cancers wear their emotions so that everyone can see, and they are one of the most authentic of the zodiac signs.

When a Cancer meets someone they think is friend-material, Cancer will invite them over to their home. It could be for dinner, a glass of wine, or just to kick back and watch some Netflix. They are happiest when they’re at home, and it shows in how house-proud and welcoming to others they are. It’s not unlikely that a Cancer would make friends with all their neighbors.

LEO (July 23 – August 22)

The question is: when isn’t Leo making friends? They’re constantly talking to people they met, and since they’re extremely confident, it’s not unlike Leo to make the first move. Leos love physical activity, so a great way for them to get to know someone is at the gym working out or playing on a sports team.

Leos have that kind of effervescent personality that cheers people up when they’re feeling down. Leos have that star-quality that captivates and intrigues people. Making new friends isn’t a problem for them.

VIRGO (August 23 – September 22)

Virgos can be a little shy, and the best way for them to meet a new friend is to get to know someone in an already-existing friend group or to find a community like storytellers, musicians, hobbyists, or people with conspiracy theories. Virgos also have a quirky side to them, so it’s possible that they might meet someone at Comic-Con or at some kind of cultural event.

Virgos have many interests and they’re an expert at many of them, so once they feel comfortable enough to speak, they’ll talk your ear off.

LIBRA (September 23 – October 22)

Libras can be extremely social, so it’s not that difficult for them to meet people and make friends. Since Libras like to see and be seen, they’re most likely to go to an art opening, a screening, a premiere, or whatever is hot right now.

Libras tend to break the ice with a compliment or something positive they’ve noticed and get into a conversation that way. Since Libras have a lot of friends, sometimes connecting with an old friend that they’ve lost touch with feels like they’re making a new friend.

SCORPIO (October 23 – November 21)

Scorpios tend to be very private and trying to force themselves to go out rarely works. A Scorpio wouldn’t be adverse to doing an online or Tinder thing, but for friends. They like to get up close and personal and ask a lot of questions, which works well because a lot of people love to talk about themselves.

However, don’t expect the whole question and answer session to be reciprocal; Scorpios rarely divulge a lot of details about themselves. Once a relationship is established and Scorpio knows that they can trust you, maybe then they might reveal some information about themselves.

SAGITTARIUS (November 22 – December 21)

Sagittarius is another sign that practically lives on meeting new people and making friends. They tend not to have a shy bone in their body and think nothing of just starting up a conversation. Another way that Sagittarius excels at making new friends is by thinking outside the box.

They don’t just talk to people in their age-range or with their same interests; Sagittarius like to mix it up. How can you know if you really click with someone if you don’t talk to them or you play it safe? Since Sagittarius travel a great deal, it’s easy for them to meet a variety of people and experience many different cultures.

CAPRICORN (December 22 – January 19)

Capricorns tend to meet people through friends of friends or at work. Here’s their trick: they follow through and make an effort to stay in touch.

So, if you tell your Capricorn friend who just moved to a new city to call your friend who lives there, Capricorn will, or if someone says to a Capricorn that they should grab coffee sometime, they will lock that down in their schedule. They take friendship very seriously and tend to have friends for a long time.

AQUARIUS (January 20 – February 18)

One of the great things about an Aquarius is that they’re very open-minded and don’t judge. They accept people for who they are and that’s a very attractive quality to have.

Aquarians are great at social networking and making connections with other people. They tend to meet people through work or their humanitarian efforts. Instead of going out for coffee, an Aquarius might invite you to a protest or a march — there’s nothing more bonding than standing up for a cause or fighting injustice.

PISCES (February 19 – March 20)

Pisces are very caring, compassionate, and open to making friends with almost anyone, even people who have taken advantage of them in the past. Pisces are very creative and that’s a very attractive quality in a friend, and they usually have a killer sense of humor.

It wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibilities for a Pisces to meet someone at a group therapy session or at a 12-step program. They want to help people feel better. A sign that a Pisces wants to be friends is when they share something with you that’s dear to them or something that they’ve made.
